Cha has an ongoing commitment to complying with all relevant privacy laws, including:

Federal and Queensland State Privacy legislation are not a mandatory requirement and do not generally apply to our operation. At cha, however, we are voluntarily committed to the intention of these safeguards, including mandatory reporting of any data breach to: you; the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; and the Queensland Office of the Information Commissioner.

How we manage personal information that we collect
General
If you are a potential landlord, tenant or general visitor to our website, we may collect the following information about you:

By providing this information, you acknowledge that we may use it to follow up with you until you instruct us not to anymore.
Landlord
In addition, if you are a landlord registered with our business, we will collect the following:

All information about the real property we (do or may) manage for you (eg. address of the asset; related land title and rates; body corporate related (if relevant); income and expense; condition assessment; etc)

Your residential address.

How we make payments to you (eg. your banking details. This could include information held by your bank about other account holders).

Information relating to insurance policies or coverage held for your property.

Other information specific to you, needed to authenticate access to online service.
Tenant
If you are a prospective tenant, or tenant, in addition to the general information, we will collect the following:

Information that you provide to us (eg. previous addresses; employment information; references and background details), when completing an application.

Information regarding your credit score.

Information, if any, relating to your past rental history.

Other information specific to you, needed to authenticate access to online service.

What we do with your information
We will only collect information that we need to do business with you. We will not unreasonably intrude into your personal affairs and will make sure that you are aware of the information we have collected.

As part of working with landlords, we may provide the personal details of individuals who are prospective or actual tenants of their real property. We will only release enough personal information, though, to meet our legal and contractual obligations.

We will ensure that we do everything within our power to store your information securely and protected with adequate safeguards (eg. up-to-date virus protection and other software, physical locked containers, etc).

We will not use your information for any other purpose, except where permitted by circumstance (ie. it is necessary to properly administer a Lease Agreement [eg. QCAT]).

Information about any other individual (a third party) whose personal information we receive in operating our business will be shared with that individual.
